Vocalist Mike Shinoda explained the band’s goals for the new album: “This record was about getting back to the ‘hybrid theory,’ but not the album of that name, the philosophy of it. There’s six of us with different musical tastes and different things that we like, and like to do, and to be able to kind of bridge all those gaps, but also like the different eras of our band, into one sound on one album, that was the challenge and that was the fun of making this record, Living Things.”
