According to The Pulse Of Radio, LINKIN PARK’s Music For Relief charity organization has teamed up with Causecast to launch what they’re calling version 2.0 of Download To Donate For Haiti, to mark the first anniversary of the devastating earthquake that killed over 300,000 on the island nation last January. The campaign allows music fans access to free music by hundreds of different artists simply by making a one-time $10 donation by texting RELIEF to 41010 or by donating through DownloadToDonate.org.
All donors will receive a one-year subscription to a growing catalog of music donated by artists including LINKIN PARK, ALANIS MORISSETTE, THE ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS, THE CRYSTAL METHOD, LUPE FIASCO, METRIC, SLASH, SWITCHFOOT and more. All proceeds go to continued recovery and rebuilding efforts in Haiti
On a teleconference on Thursday (January 13) with reporters, LINKIN PARK vocalist Mike Shinoda spoke about the project. “Immediately after the earthquake, the folks down there obviously needed help and, you know, it fell in our lap and we realized we needed to act quickly,” he said. “We started Download To Donate. The Download To Donate project raised over a quarter of a million dollars and it’s an ongoing effort and an ongoing album. So we’re continuing to collect more songs for it by many different artists, and you can go to MusicForRelief.org right now and download some music and donate to the cause.”
LINKIN PARK kicks off a North American tour on January 20 in Sunrise, Florida. Support acts will be THE PRODIGY, PENDULUM and DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH?
As usual on recent LINKIN PARK tours, one dollar from each ticket will also go to Music For Relief, with a portion of those proceeds directed to Haiti as well.
