The Mike Shinoda Clan (MSC) originated in the Linkin Park Underground Message Boards (LPUMB) originally created by Raymart back in 2007 to unite Mike Shinoda fans under the Mine Field. We’ve had many members join us since then, we are now on version 10, still located in the LPUMB. In 2008 Ana and Zara have been talking about making a fan site for Mike Shinoda, both being in school time did not permit them, plus a site is a lot of work. Late 2008/early 2009, the MSC was finally a site hosted by google sites, Zara and Ana tried to put as much information as possible before launching the site. However, both owners left the site without updating it for months. Hope for the MSC seemed faint. In early 2009, Zara created a site for UK Linkin Park fans, currently under construction! Zara dedicated all her time to LPUK and school work while Ana dedicated herself to her studies, until Ana contacted Zara that they should update the MSC fan site on June 06, 2009. With this message:

Hey Zara! How are you?? I just had a great idea, well could be a bad one that’s why I’m consulting you! Anyway, remember that site we tried to do? Do you think we could go back and try to update now? because I was just thinking perhaps we could make a twitter account to get more people to follow and we could update on LP news and obviously Mike news too, what do you think?? It’d be easy we could also try to make it a real fan site (and by that I mean with official updates and news and well stuff!)

Zara’s response was this:

I say, lets do it !!! Ill try get online as much as I can, its a bit more difficult now im back at home for the summer :s But yeah, lets go for it!

And from then on they consulted about the site, however, both owners agreed that google sites was too hard to manage and moved all the information to blogger, where it has been hosted since August 2009 to February 2010. As summer continued, plans about creating a Mike Shinoda fan site finally became a reality, more information was being updated and the MSC site was actually beginning to look like a true fan site! On August 10, 2009 the MSC site launched, both owners promoted their site everywhere possible. Even now Ana still post the site’s URL on Mike’s blog comments, to get more recognition! In late 2009, both owners wanted to move the MSC to another host, make look better. So during winter break both worked hard to learn about WordPress and enhance their knowledge in PHP, CSS, and even more HTML. Then, the MSC was accepted to be hosted by Fantorium.com on February 1st. The new version of the MSC opened on Mike’s 33rd birthday, February 11th 2010.

They moved the site to Fan-Sites.org on April 13th, 2010 so the gallery could grow, during their site update they also added a random quote generator in the sidebar.

On May 20th 2010 MSC reached 50,000 visitors, and also had 1,562 followers on Twitter, 5,535 photos in the gallery and 442 visitors signed up for the gallery, and 100 videos in our video gallery which had been viewed 8,815 times.

As of the 10th of August 2010, the Mike Shinoda Clan, had been online for a year. At this time 78,711 people had visited the MSC, and 2,147 people were following our Twitter account. MSC had 6258 files in our gallery which had been viewed 96654 times by our 645 registered members. Our media archive had 108 files in it, the videos had been watched 11,894 times and the audios had been played 2,136 times. To mark the MSC’s anniversary Ana and Zara installed new themes for all sections of the site and added a multimedia section and a lyrics center.

On November 9th 2010, Zara got to meet Mike Shinoda thanks to the LPU choosing her for a meet and greet at Birmingham, UK. Zara had brought an England flag to give to Linkin Park so they could put it on stage, she also brought gifts and a MSC flier especially for Mike. When she met Mike she handed him a MSC flier (there were two that Ana made so Zara could take to Mike), which Mike had kept and signed another one for Zara. This has been the inspiration following the new layout released in 2011.

On the January 12, 2011 Ana and Zara opened Spanish, Portuguese and German versions of the Mike Shinoda Clan each ran by their own team of translators.

Ana and Zara also launched a new theme for the site with new features, including polls and a Mike Shinoda Clan newsletter, giving subscribers a weekly digest of Mike Shinoda news and articles.

On June 4, 2011 Ana had a chance to fly to Los Angeles and see Linkin Park live at the KROQ Weenie Roast in Irvine, CA. Again thanks to the LPU for the opportunity, Ana got a meet and greet for Irvine. She brought an MSC flier that she made special for the occasion and gifts for the guys, when she met Mike she asked Mike if he could sign the flier for the MSC and also gave him one (there were two) to keep, they talked a bit. Mike asked for her name and thanked Ana and Zara sincerely for everything. This flier that Mike signed is the inspiration for the next theme.

On June 21, 2011 Trixi, a translator from MSC auf Deutsch had a chance to go to the LPU Summit in Hamburg, which included a meet and greet with the band. Ana made a quick design for Trixi to print on a shirt, this was the first MSC shirt. Trixi asked Mike to sign it, which resulted in him offering his hand to shake Trixi’s hand. Trixi also wrote a review about the show which is here.

On June 29, 2011 we introduce TWO more MSC versions, in French and Indonesian, complete with their own team of translators.

On September 21, 2011 our Indonesian MSC team arranged to meet at the Jakarta show and some lucky MSC members got a meet and greet with the band. Febby, translator for MSC Indonesian, made something that included MSC on it and got the entire band to sign it. Febby also mentioned she was prat of MSC Indonesian, this is the FIRST time that anyone has mentioned the MSC versions to Mike personally.

On August 31st, 2011 the man who inspired everything, Mike Shinoda follows MSC on Twitter! Thanks to the fans for suggesting he do so. Resulting in MANY more followers for the MSC after Mike followed!
