Brad just chatted with LPU members, no screncaps since we could hear him but not see him as he was called up for the 2020 census, I struggled to hear what he was saying but here’s summary of what I could make out.
- Brad will not be stripping at Sunset Strip show, he said he has to keep 3/4 of his body covered.
- He wasn’t surprised when people wasn’t recognised when handing out fliers. He said even the people who worked at the Roxy and Sunset strip where they’ve played didn’t recognise him. He said he doesn’t get recognised, he had to work to get people to take the fliers.
- Chester & Stone Temple Pilots – he went to the show last night at MusiCares, he said they sounded fantastic and it was fun for Brad because he’s always been a fan of Stone Temple Pilots, and he’s excited for Chester.
- Next album – they have a lot of material to work on, he’s really excited on the direction the stuff has, he says it has a unique identity already and recording and being in the studio is very rewarding for him.
- Funniest experience – When completing his census, he had to submit his shoe size. He talked about talking to a guy when he was handing out fliers, the guy told Brad that he named his dog after Chester, to which Brad replied “oh, what’s your dogs name?”
- Favourite bands/musicians – he likes things that make noises, not meaning to be music, like white noise.
- Who would you be for a day? Imagine Dragons, the whole band
- Mall – he’s seen cuts of the movie, he said Joe amazes him, he said he’s very proud of Joe’s creativity and he’s looking forward to adding to that.
- He said he knits his own socks. (Sarcastic)
- Something on MTV inspired him to play guitar. (Sarcastic) (anyone get this?)
- Favourite places to visit on tour – fabric stores for sock making.
- He’s had weird/funny/strange experiences on stage but didn’t go into detail.
- He likes Star Wars, not as much as Joe Hahn though. Dave has a surprisingly detailed knowledge of Star Wars.
- He warms up for shows by planking and skateboarding. (Sarcastic)
- He is very proud of his one Tweet that he submitted on LP’s profile, he wouldn’t tweet again because he said that’s one of he most remarkable Tweets on Twitter.
- First song played on the guitar – He learned parts of a bunch of Metallica songs early on, maybe not the first though.
- Tips for new artists – work hard at songwriting, study songwriters/songs that you admire, break them down so that you understand what makes them function, then you can apply that to your ideas. Work harder than everyone else.
- Recording and touring, are both good and both hard work, being in the studio is more natural for him and finishing a song is a reward, and so is playing that song and getting the crowd response from a show is rewarding.
- He doesn’t think people would call him normal. He’s open minded to many possibilities.
- When they will come to Brazil – he said they’ve just been to Brazil and he would love to go back.
- Favourite guitar is whichever he’s playing at that time.
- He wouldn’t argue with anyone who said he was the funniest member of the band, he said these people are intelligent.
- He said UCLA is a beautiful campus, he likes handing out fliers when people aren’t being antagonistic towards him.
- He’s asked Chester for singing advice, he said he admires Chester’s talent.
- If he had 24 hours to live… (couldn’t hear this bit)
- When he was a child he wanted to be older to he could drive.
- All his albums was fun to make, he mentioned Collision Course, Minutes to Midnight and LIVING THINGS as being his favourite to make. He mention that he felt very inspired during the making of these albums.
- He doesn’t decorate his headphones himself.
- He was wearing a polo that he got from a boutique, Mike was making fun of it because it has a tiny pocket on it. He’s also wearing corduroy pants he cut into shorts.
- He would like to tour with Linkin Park in the future.
- His hair annoys him if it gets too long so he’s cut it quite short.
- He thanked the census people, LPUers and Adam at the end of the chat.
